Our Story

From Ancient Roots
to a New Future

More than a business — a mission to honour a forgotten legacy, revive a powerful tradition, and empower the generations who first gave the world its favourite beverage.

A Place of Paradox

This is a story that is going to change

Our story begins in a place of paradox. A place of breathtaking beauty, ancient history, and unwavering resilience. A place that invented coffee, yet is now a world away from the global coffee stage. Today, Yemen, the birthplace of coffee, is battling one of the worst humanitarian crises of our time.

We believe that the enduring legacy of Yemeni coffee can become a vehicle for positive change. By creating a sustainable, ethical market for this extraordinary gift to the world, we aim to lead the revival of an industry that once defined our land.

The Restoration of Yemeni Coffee

We Are Restoring a Legacy

YEMEN COFFEE is not just a coffee company. It is a restoration.

WHY WE EXIST

The world has told an incomplete story about coffee for 500 years. They say Ethiopia is the "birthplace." They stop there. They leave out the three centuries of refinement, the two-century monopoly, the naval battles, the royal court cases, and the New York Stock Exchange demanding the Yemeni standard.

We exist to complete the story.

YEMEN COFFEE was born from a simple belief: that the truth matters. That farmers who built an industry deserve to be honored. That a 500-year legacy should not be erased.

Who We Are

Heritage Keepers, Truth-Tellers

We are a small team of heritage keepers, coffee lovers, and truth-tellers. Our founder, Gamal Almaitamy, is from Yemen. He grew up watching his grandmother brew coffee with cardamom and ginger, pour it from a Dallah, and serve it with a smile.

He started this brand because he could not stand the silence. Because Yemen has given the world so much — and received so little in return.

We are based in London, but our heart is in the terraced mountains of Yemen.

MISSION

To honour Yemen's ancient coffee legacy by preserving its time-honoured cultivation methods and reviving its global standing, using every bean as a vehicle for sustainable change.

VISION

To see Yemen coffee reclaim its rightful place as a global leader, one bean at a time.

Our Five Values

Five Unbreakable Promises

I

Truth Over Myth

We correct the record, even when it is uncomfortable.

II

The Farmer is the Founder

We do not extract. We elevate.

III

Sacred Craftsmanship

Unchanged since the Sufis. Uncompromised ever.

IV

Rebel Hospitality

The Dallah sat between warring tribes. So do we.

V

Legacy Over Margin

We build for the next 500 years, not the next quarter.

رسالة من المؤسس

"I started YEMEN COFFEE because I could not stand the silence.

Yemen is a country of breathtaking beauty, ancient terraces, and a people whose resilience defies comprehension. It is also a country that has been forgotten — not because it has nothing to offer, but because the world stopped listening.

We are here to change that.

Every bag you hold was grown on stone terraces built by ancestors. Every bean is an heirloom variety — Udaini, Dawairi, Tufahi — the same genetics the Sufis selected five centuries ago.

When you brew this coffee, I hope you taste more than wild chocolate and red wine. I hope you taste five hundred years of patience. I hope you taste the Dallah. I hope you taste the truth.

Thank you for being part of the restoration."

Warmly,
Gamal Almaitamy
